Madonna spent her weekend getting some new ink, which she showed off a design from the Kabbalah book Ten Luminous Emanations by Yehuda Ashlag.

The 63-year-old singer took to her Instagram story on Sunday evening to share a design that’s featured on the cover of Ten Luminous Emanations.

The book was published in 1996 by the Research Center of Kabbalah, where the author, ‘reveals the process of creation leading up to the Big Bang origins of our universe.’

The singer became involved with Eastern mysticism and the Kabbalah, after being introduced by actress Sandra Bernhard.

Her studies of the Kabbalah – a set of teachings that study the creation of the universe and its relation to God – have also been featured in her music.

Albums such as Ray of Light and Music featured songs that reflect her longtime interest in mysticism, as she explained her religious beliefs in a 2019 interview.

She added in another interview with Andrew Denton’s Interview she added, “The idea that in any church you go, you see a man on a cross and everyone genuflects and prays to him […] in a way it’s paganism/idolatry because people are worshiping a thing.’

As for her tattoos, this design is her fourth, having first got inked for the first time back in September 2020.

The singer got the first initial of each of her six children tattooed on the inside of her left wrist – LRDMS E.

The letters signify Lourdes, 25, Rocco, 21; David, 16; Mercy, 16; and twins Stella and Estere, nine.

Her second tattoo was inked back in March 2021, a red X tattooed on the inside of her right wrist, commemorating her latest album, 2021’s Madame X.

Her third tattoo was done in November 2021, getting the Hebrew word for ‘kissed’ on the inside of her left wrist, just below her children’s initials.

This fourth tattoo is just below the Hebrew word for kissed on her left wrist as well.
